Hosemartins flit, swirl and turn. Mediterranean skies are their backdrop and the rising sun, a spotlight on their aerobatics. It is both mesmerising and dizzying. Summer is truly here.
As the shadows deepen and the heat begins to rise, I sit and ponder. My coffee, a must to start my morning, grows ever cooler as my mind drifts from one thought to another. A relentless stream of non related topics and questions. It could be anything, it could be nothing. Sights and sounds batter my early morning senses and I almost feel it is too much to take in.
Oh look, a bird! Another! Relax. I feel tense, a deep feeling turning the butterflies in my stomach into a massive gathering of the unknown and a sense of dread that I can’t explain? What is it that makes these feelings rise and fall as regular as the ticking of a watch? I think some more but no answer presents itself. The feelings wane, a final sip of cold coffee.
Time to move. Time to do, get things done. Maybe some music or just enjoy the waking sounds of a summer’s day. Tick, tick, tick and here we go again.
